2007 Harmonized Tariff Numbers

Wood Dale, Illinois (February, 2007) – In our January issue of On-Board, we reported the progress on the implementation of the most sweeping changes in the Harmonized schedules in recent history. Below are the facts about these changes as well as some information on how we are planning to make the transition easier for our clients.

The Harmonized Tariff is viewable (still in draft, but we are told the majority of changes are final) at www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/bychapter/index.htm.

In order to classify your products, we require your updated listings no later than February 17th. Please send them to your client representative at your earliest convenience.

The 2007 HTS will go into effect on February 3rd, and there is a short grace period lasting until February 17th.

If you have more than 50 SKU’s or Part numbers in your parts database with us, we will contact you to offer our assistance.

We will provide a quotation to you to supply you with the tariff number and duty rate if your classification is a clear one-to-one replacement. If, on the other hand, there are multiple tariff numbers which may apply, we will provide you with the tariff numbers and the rates of duty. Because classification is a legal obligation of the Importer, we strongly recommend you review our listing with knowledgeable product specialists within your firm to determine which of our options are correct.

If you have less than 50 SKU’s or Part numbers in your parts database with us, please feel free to contact us if you need assistance. We have implemented this cut-off, as we know that many of our clients are working on this already, and because of the short time span we have been given, we are doing our best to accommodate all needs. However, we will assist you if you have less than 50 and you need our help!

Please contact Alice Lo at alice@reillyinternational.com if you have any questions or less than 50 SKU’s on file with us.
